Sacred Island Stories

Minjerribah – North Stradbroke Island

Minjerribah, also known as North Stradbroke Island, is the best-known island on the Redlands Coast. Visitors from around the world are drawn to its pristine waters, and the unique sense of place that surrounds you here.

It is home to the Quandamooka people, who proudly keep their traditions alive through song, dance, and art – each connecting to ancestral stories once carried only through oral language. Their heritage reflects a deep connection to both land and sea, expressed in canvas, ceramics, and textiles.

For the Quandamooka people, animals and plants all belong to one family. The trees are as sacred as the animals, reminding us of the unity that binds all living things.
