Colour Me Bright

Lynda Faulkner – Colour Me Bright

Lynda grew up on Macleay Island, and has been drawing since childhood. After marrying Dave, the couple travelled through Queensland, and eventually settled in Central Queensland for nearly two decades. It was there that Lynda began pursuing her art in earnest.

When she returned to Macleay, her palette transformed – suddenly bold, vivid, and full of life. Surrounded by a welcoming art community, and inspired by the island’s energy, her creativity flourished.

She began by painting dogs, familiar companions of the outback. In her works, they strutted the red carpet instead of toiling in the dust. Over time, her canvases grew larger, just like the animals she painted. Her repertoire expanded too – from landscapes and cityscapes, to pottery, collage, and wire sculpture – and it continues to grow.

At home, she and Dave devote many hours to their garden, wishing more people cared for the environment. Through it all, Lynda’s goal remains simple and heartfelt: to create art that radiates happiness, offering brightness in a world that often feels heavy.
